You're a video editor and wanna build a custom Mac, but you don't know what peripherals should you buy for it. Here, I want to share a video editing machine that i've built before. Most Adobe app includes Adobe After effect needs a big RAM to manage all tasks better eventhough Final Cut Pro require a higher Graphics card, so I think you must use high spec Graphic card and also big memory with high freq for render HD videos. For storage, SSD exactly can run faster than the HDD so I attached SSD on system beside HDD for data storage. This is the specification of video editing machine that i've ever build.
1. Processor
More core processors with higher freq certainly a better choice. I bought Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0 Ghz with 8MB Cache.
2. Graphics card
For graphics card, I used PowerColor R9 280X 512bit OC 3GB GDDR5. It can runs on OS X out of the box with inject dev id into its kext and add Framebuffer name in bootloader. It supports up to 4096 x 2160 resolution. It has 880 Mhz of engine clock. It has 4 ports : DVI-I, HDMI, and 2x Mini DisplayPort.
3. Memory
I attached dual 16 GB kit 2400 Mhz Corsair Vengeance Memory.
4. Storage
Like I said before, SSD exactly can run faster than the HDD so I attached SSD on system beside HDD for data storage. I used Samsung 850 Evo 240 GB and added WD Carviar Black 4TB for data.
5. Power supply
I trust to Corsair RM 750 watt with gold certified for handle everything.
6. Mainboard
All of parts above is attached on Gigabyte Z97 Black Edition (GA-Z97X-UD3H-BK).
7. Display
I recommend to use QHD (2560 x 1440) monitor or higher. You can try 27 Inch Dell Monitor from amazon. But if you have enough money, you may choose the wider 4K monitor.

8. Cooling system
Corsair Hydro Series Liquid CPU Cooler (H80i) is very powerful but it is cheap.
9. DVD Drive
ASUS BW-12B1ST with 12X Blu-ray burning speed and best burning quality is a good choice for you.
10. Case
For case selection, I'm sure you know what you want. :)
